Vertu’s Sales Up By 50 Per Cent

While Nokia itself is having a bit of a tough time, its subsidiary manufacturer, Vertu is reporting a boost in sales – 50% in fact.
Vertu is the luxury phone maker whose products sell on average for around £5000, the brand positioning itself alongside the likes of Rolex and Tag Heuer. The company is based in Church Crookham, Hampshire.
Bigger is Better… Apparently

If your old or current smart-phone just isn’t big enough for you (we won’t even go into the psychology there, never fear) then LG might have the answer. LG is about to introduce a new smart-phone into the marketplace which goes by the rather gargantuan name of the LG Optimus Big. Big appears to be the answer to everything if this item is anything to go by, since a leaked photo of the new phone shows it to be even bigger than an iPhone 3GS.
No More Symbian Handsets – And That’s Official

Nokia has finally come clean over whether it intends to continue manufacturing Symbian-based smartphones. But the company says that while they won’t make any more handsets, the operating system will still be around for some time yet, until 2012.
A spokesperson for Nokia told knowyourmobile.com: “Our intention is that when users come to the end of the natural lifecycle of their Symbian device they will make the change to a Nokia Windows Phone device and so it would not be in our interests to undermine their Nokia smartphone experience.”
