Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Rakes in Over £300M in One Day
The biggest game release of the year, the much anticipated COD Black Ops 2 which was released last Tuesday (13th November) is said to have made £300 Million in its first day.
The game is the ninth installment of the ongoing franchise and was launched at 16,000 stores worldwide, with many avid fans queuing up outside at midnight to be the first to get their hands on the game.
Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said “We believe Call of Duty is the biggest entertainment launch of the year for the fourth year in a row,” “Life-to-date sales for the Call of Duty franchise have exceeded worldwide theatrical box office receipts for Harry Potter and Star Wars, the two most successful movie franchises of all time.”
It goes to show that in today’s society Games are fast becoming more popular than music and movies as peoples particular choice of entertainment, despite the significant price differences between music and movies compared to games.
Twitter Reaction to COD:
Call of Duty is like an iPhone. New game every year, basically the same.

I have Call of Duty sitting on my mantle just mocking me. Wife says I’m not allowed to play until baby’s asleep. Thinking about subletting.
