China Start Cloning Apple’s iPhone 5
To be fair this is old news as many companies in China have been cloning the device since its launch back in September time, however what makes this story a bit different is that there is a new clone that has come to light called the i5, made by Jingxian and available in China January 2013 for $230.
The Spec Must Be Bad, Right?
Surprisingly it isn’t as bad as you may think for $230, the i5 sports a 2GHz Mediatek MT6589 quad core processor, although the display is only 4 inches (1135 x 640) which for some will come as a disappointment.
The memory is 1GB of RAM, a PowerVR SGX 531 drives the graphics, whilst just like the real iPhone 5 the Jungxian i5 will be available with on-board storage options ranging from 8GB right up to 32GB.
What About The OS?
The OS of course won’t be Apple’s iOS 6, but it will sport the latest Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1 OS.
Sounds pretty good doesn’t it? I’m sure a lot of people in China won’t mind having a knock-off, and saving hundreds of dollars on the real thing.
