
On Monday, Google and Motorola announced that they are joining forces, with the makers of Android now buying Motorola Mobility for the sum of $12.5 billion US.

According to the Google Voice blog, the feature, which allows you to make cheap international calls through your Gmail, is being rolled out to several new countries over the next few days.

I suppose we really shouldn’t be surprised – after all, Android is a Google product – but the Google+ app for Android is really quite clever.

I joined Google+ last week and am thoroughly addicted. I have an Android mobile, so my app has been up and running for a while; however, the iPhone app wasn’t available until yesterday.

PayPal has just announced that it has reached over 100 million active accounts. Along with delivering that news, PayPal’s president Scott Thompson also provided a rather bold prediction: by 2015, in the USA, the wallet will be a thing of the past.

For a while now, the people developing Android have complained that anyone with a bit of savvy can use their applications without permission. Now Google’s Android team has addressed the issue by creating a licensing security tool to prevent illegal use. Eric Chu of Android writes:

Android 2.2 should be taking centre stage on 19th May at the Goggle I/O Conference – featuring data tethering, fast speeds, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Also rumoured to appear is Google TV, which runs off of Android 2.2.
