To determine this figure, Flurry logged data from more than 85,000 mobile applications. Other results showed that there has been a ten per cent growth in the number of European smartphone users, with that number reaching 46 million active smartphone users as of May.
The most popular type of application according to the study is gaming apps, with more than 35 per cent of all application use devoted to gaming. Next in popularity are social networking applications such as Twitter and Facebook, constituting 25 per cent of smartphone application use. This is followed by sports and entertainment applications at 17 per cent and news at five per cent.
Flurry also goes on to say that it expected the number of active smartphone users to more than double over the coming year, rising to as high as 92 million users.
