Want to accept payments on your mobile?
Apparently, iZettle is a mini chip-card reader designed for your smartphone. Using it basically turns your device into a payment terminal accepting payments from anyone using the major debit or credit cards including American Express, Visa, MasterCard, and even Diners Club.
This nifty little app will help small business people, such as stallholders, to take payments for products easily and quickly, and more importantly at relatively little cost. Major banks will often charge hefty fees for this service.
At the moment the only devices that can use the iZettle app are Android and those using Apple’s iOS platform. You will also need a device that attaches to the smartphone. This costs £20; however, there is also a transaction fee of 2.75%, which goes to iZettle.
If you are small business working from home, this cost could add up. It is probably advisable to take this into account when working out prices for goods.
Jacob de Geer, CEO and co-founder of iZettle, said: “The beauty of iZettle is that it’s simple to use, totally secure and takes seconds for a transaction.”
He added: “Whether you are a cabbie, florist, tradesperson or a courier, iZettle gives you the flexibility to operate in both cash and cards. The possibilities are endless because hundreds of thousands of small businesses can now take plastic.”
Mr de Geer also said that his company’s marketing results involving 4,000 beta testers has proved positive.
