We Love Apps
Apps, or to be strictly accurate about the name, applications, are all the rage when it comes to smart-phones and so they should be. Let us face it, where would the smart-phone be without all those cool apps to play with? Probably not looking quite so smart, that’s where. Of course, that is not to downplay the importance of other features or attributes such as how it plays and its general appearance. The truth is that apps rule the roost nowadays and if any new so called ‘smart-phone’ comes along that won’t allow us to play with all the coolest new apps around, then very soon it’ll be sent to remedial class and we’ll take up with the cool kid smart-phone that will let us play with them.
Apps are everywhere and only seem to be growing in popularity. Statistics show that the Windows Marketplace smart-phone, which launched less than six months ago in the October of last year, already has no less than ten thousand applications that are downloadable from the internet. The Blackberry App World has around twenty thousand downloadable applications, which might well seem like chicken feed to some in comparison to the amount being offered by Apple and Android phones, which is around three hundred and fifty thousand on each of their platforms. However, given that the up and coming new Blackberry PlayBook will offer a flash playing facility, expect a massive rush on flash playing applications to suddenly enter the marketplace when it does.
Apps – don’t you just love ‘em?
