3G Switch-on Continues

Touch Phone 3G Switch on ContinuesLast year Orange and T-Mobile became one company – Everything, Everywhere. It also became the UK’s largest network operator. Customers were immediately able to access both former companies’ 2G network.

However Everything, Everywhere has just announced that their combined 3G network is being rolled out to all customers. This should mean a better quality calls and text communication. Around 27 million customers will benefit from this although it will take some time to implement.

In other news a new application – ChatOn has been released this week by Samsung. It’s available for both Android and Samsung’s own proprietary operating system, Bada. ChatON is basically a social network communication tool. You can chat one to one with friends and family who also have the app installed on their smartphone. You can also set up groups or communities, or broadcast to people at once.

Speaking with mobilechoiceuk.com, Simon Stanford, head of Mobile, Samsung UK and Ireland said: “We’re always looking at ways to bring innovative devices and services to consumers and I’m delighted to announce Samsung’s ChatON platform in the UK. Samsung ChatON brings a communication service that encompasses multimedia, social media and instant messaging capabilities that will give our consumers yet another way to communicate and interact with our devices.”

The application has a number of features making it one of the most versatile apps of its type around. For instance users can search for regular chatters via something called Interaction Rank. Following account activation users can share animations, audio files and access chat archives. There is even an option to use your computer rather than the smartphone. The app is available to download now.
