Another Samsung rumour
If there is one thing the mobile world thrives on, it is rumour. The latest rumour revolves around Samsung.
It seems that there is a suggestion that the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is about to be upgraded. The suggestion is that it will have a new microprocessor.
You could well be forgiven for asking why this is news, but the fact is that Samsung appears to be embarking on a grand launch at its conference in May, with a number of new ideas being announced. The Galaxy SIII is expected to be the main headline act, but many experts think Samsung may have something extra up its sleeve to tempt analysts and consumers alike.
Commentators also suggest that the Galaxy Tab is not the only mobile device to get an update. The Galaxy Note is currently being heavily promoted on TV in the UK and is also thought to be in line for a new microprocessor – probably a quad core chip. This will put it and other Galaxy devices in a much stronger competitive position.
The tablet market appears to be fast taking over from the mobile phone rush that took place when the idea became a reality. In one way this is not surprising. While making phone calls on a tablet is difficult, a tablet is very useful for a variety of uses, and not just for reading ebooks. Businesses are making increasing use of them in all sorts of ways.
As such, faster processors will give the latest tablets that extra edge in a highly competitive market.
