Apple iPod Updated
Yes, you did read that right. Apple is not going to be left behind in the race to develop new and existing technology.
The iPod Touch now makes calls (not over a network). Apple has also added a number of other functions which according to some commentators is making the device look more like an iPhone every day.
The additions include FaceTime, which means you can interact with people over a WiFi network, thanks to the front-facing camera and mic.
It seems that another innovation is the incorporation of a ‘Retina display’ with 326 pixels per inch for sharper imagery that would look natural to the human eye.
Other features include a rear facing HD camera which can take both stills and HD video. There is also a facility to edit via an iMovie application which can be downloaded from the Apple store for a fee.
In related news, Apple has added iOS version 4.1. Available on both the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch, this will be a welcome addition for gamers.
Commentators have said that this isn’t a major update but there are a number of useful features, including HDR (High Dynamic Range), which allows three photographs to be taken at once that can then combined to create one image.
As for the iPod, you can order it now. It is available in 8GB, 32GB and 64GB versions. Prices are £189, £249 and £329 respectively.
