Battery Problems For The Lumia 800
The woes for Nokia seem never ending. Just when everyone thought that the corner had turned for the troubled Finnish manufacturer with the release of the new flagship Windows Phone handsets, Nokia has announced the Lumia 800 has battery issues.
Nokia management told mobilechoiceuk.com “We understand that some people have expressed concerns about battery life on the Nokia Lumia 800. Early investigations show that the majority of people are enjoying the full Nokia Lumia experience without any problems.”
While not exactly a full statement acknowledging there is a problem, the fact that it admits some people have reported one must be something of a blow.
But what is this problem?
Experts reviewing the Lumia 800 when it was first released did suggest that the 13 hour battery life was not as good as they expected for such a powerful machine. However, while this in itself is perhaps not that worrying, what is disturbing is a report that the battery drains even when not in use and switched off. One buyer commented on a discussion forum that he put the device on charge the previous night, but when he got up in the morning he found the battery had lost 65% of its charge in the meantime.
Nokia has said the company is in the process of resolving this issue. A new update is expected in December with another to follow in January aimed at improving battery life and charging.
Hopefully this will solve the problem. However, it couldn’t have come at a worse time. Sales of the Lumia are not as high as expected.
