Groupon links up with Nokia
It seems that the well-known discount operator from the US has linked up with Nokia to offer its service via Nokia Maps.
Interestingly, when you boot up the map of an area, any offers available will be highlighted by a green coloured icon; however, if you are interested in this service you might have to wait a while as it is apparently only available in the US at the moment, but experts think it will not be long before it arrives across the pond.
Pino Bonetti commented on Nokia’s blog: “Groupon Now! on Nokia Maps is a great way to get nearby deals on demand that you can buy and use the same day. You can buy them and use them right away for instant gratification. We think that this is a perfect way to try new places or find great offers around you, in your home city or when travelling.”
Although Google once again seems to have the upper hand where mapping technology is concerned, Nokia believes it too has the expertise to match anything Google throws at it.
With the need for many people to look for offers and cut spending, Groupon’s new association with Nokia could pay dividends for both parties. Groupon has struggled of late, particularly with offers that many subscribers cannot make use of. This it seems has been a major problem for people living in London.
Once the technology arrives in Britain, the maps will show potential customers their nearest available offer.
