Lumia 900 great to use in sunlight
One of the criticisms that smartphone users make is that their handset is difficult to see in bright sunlight. However, if you are a Nokia Lumia 900 owner, you will be pleased to learn that this handset has been voted best in sunlight.
Mobile experts carried out a series of tests comparing different phones’ usability in sunlight. They determined that the Nokia Lumia 900’s ClearBlack system enhanced the quality of viewing when using the device outdoors.
Joint runners up in the survey were the Apple iPhone Retina display technology and the Samsung Galaxy S.
The experts also looked at how tablets reacted in bright sunlight. Interestingly, few did well, although the experts pointed out that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was much better than Apple’s iPad 2.
The Amazon Kindle Fire and Motorola’s Xoom were considered poor.
Experts also suggest that as Nokia’s ClearBlack is apparently a clear winner in the tests, the Finnish company could make a lot of money if it decided to sell the rights to the technological development.
In associated news, details of the latest update of Windows, namely Windows Phone 8 – also called Apollo – have been inadvertently released.
Microsoft is supposed to have announced this new version in October at a conference, but while announcing the conference the organisers apparently let slip more than they wanted to.
The leak itself, however, does not give away any real technical information, but it does demonstrate how easy it is to provide information to journalists and other interested parties, who often use the information to start circulating rumours.
