Nokia N8 Here By October
If you are eagerly awaiting the Nokia N8, you haven’t got long now. Nokia has decided to launch their latest smartphone on the 1st October.
First announced in April, the phone will be available in a number of outlets including, Phones4U, Carphone Warehouse and Tesco as well the network shops – O2, Orange and so on.
Nokia has taken a knock in recent months with many consumers opting for either the Apple iPhone or various Android powered handsets.
The company is hoping the N8 and the forthcoming N9 will transform their fortunes and put them back in the running again.
However, despite customers asking them to start using a more popular operating system, in particular Android, Nokia has consistently refused. The N8 will use the Symbian 3 upgrade.
Symbian has been criticised by some experts as being outdated and is the likeliest reason for Nokia’s loss of market share, particularly in the developing world.
Whether Symbian 3 can reverse this trend is anyone’s guess. Some doubt it. One such expert in a press release said: “Although Symbian 3 offers social networking integration, no major features have yet been demonstrated that are not available on other operating systems, or in some instances on other Nokia handsets.
“The N8, for instance, does not feature DLNA wireless media streaming, so its HD content must be connected physically to a TV for playback; Nokia’s N95, however, does feature impressive DLNA capabilities.”
The Nokia N8 will retail at £429.
