Orange has decided to offer additional benefits to prepay customers.
The enhancements relate to Orange’s animal-themed tariffs, when prepay customers top up, for as little as £5.
One such tariff is the Monkey music tariff. In a press release a spokesperson said “users can add to the unlimited free music access by snagging a daily internet pass and free UK texts for adding at least £5 to their credit.”
Similarly, prepay customers can get 100 extra free evening and weekend texts on the Orange Canary tariff on top of the 100 free calls already available. Customers will have to top up with £10 to receive this new benefit.
Another animal-themed tariff is the Racoon tariff. This allows prepay customers to make cheaper calls for just 12p.For those on the Camel PAYG tariff, customers can get free international minutes by just topping up.
In another move, Orange is offering an unlimited text bundle for a £5 top up.
Vice President of Orange Propositions, Pippa Dunn, said in a press release:“We have enhanced our Pay As You Go animal packages to ensure we meet our customers’ changing needs and continuously provide good value.
“We are committed to offering customers packages that are tailored to their specific lifestyles – from music to free international calls.”
Some experts have suggested that this move may be a subtle way of making prepay customers move towards a monthly contract system. If the new benefits are successful, other operators could follow suit.
