
It has been reported that the network operator O2 has been accused of sharing the mobile phone numbers of individuals whenever the latter visit websites.

In what could be described as a bold new move by O2, the network operator apparently is now leasing smartphones. This also includes the iPhone 4S

Despite O2 announcing they are trialling 4G technology over the next 9 months, an auction site has demanded that the official roll out should be much quicker.

A little while ago a trial of the 4G network started in Cornwall. Now it appears O2 is doing something similar in the London area.

O2 has announced that it is rolling out an Android update for the HTC Sensation. The new version of Android will be Gingerbread 2.3.4

The O2 network has announced an exclusivity deal to supply the HTC Rhyme. This HTC Android phone will be available from the 17th October.

This last weekend O2 was offering customers a number of pay as you go deals on various handsets. For instance, you could get the LG Optimus GT540 for £99.99, a saving of £30. Similarly at the lower end of the market the Alcatel 355 was available for just £14.99, a saving of £10.

The network company O2 has announced that major cities will be getting an upgrade to their mobile network to 3G 900MHz. The telecoms regulator Ofcom gave O2 the go ahead last February, so the roll out has been pretty quick with cities already upgraded in March including Manchester, London, Birmingham and Leeds.

To accompany a range of new tariffs, O2 is offering new customers free tethering as a bolt on for monthly contract users.
Most tariffs also offer unlimited free texts and a choice of free call minutes depending on (presumably) the contract length and / or monthly payment term. The choice is 300, 600, 1200 and unlimited call minute

Nokia’s Symbian smartphone, the E7 is on its way to the UK in May. You can get it from O2.
Although Nokia has essentially abandoned Symbian and MeeGo in favour of Windows Phone 7, it is likely nevertheless that you could still see a few new devices using these operating platform
