Tesco Rumoured To Be Opening Mobile Phone Shops

Google Nexus s x 3 300x209 Tesco Rumoured To Be Opening Mobile Phone ShopsNot content to simply provide a mobile phone service in its stores, the major retailer is believed to want to go one step further and open up a whole raft of shops.

The decision is thought to be a response to the success of its trial shop in Bristol. In just 6 weeks, the store had record sales of its mobile phones.

Although Tesco management have refused to confirm or deny the rumour a spokesperson did tell knowyourmobile.com: “The Bristol Phone Shop has been the number one performing Tesco Phone Shop for contract sales across the Phone Shop estate over the past week, really highlighting how customers have responded positively to this new format.”

Meanwhile Carphone Warehouse has announced they intend cutting the price of Google’s Nexus S smartphone (pictured) by £120 to £429.99.

Why the mobile phone supplier is doing this is not known exactly, but analysts consider it a smart move with the run up to Christmas.

The release of the phone is also believed to be delayed by 2 days, the new date being the 22nd December.

The Nexus S is the first handset to feature Android 2.3 operating system, also known as Gingerbread. Among the improved features of the platform is Near Field Communication, something Google and others think is going to change the way we make financial transactions.

Finally, Carphone Warehouse is also cutting the cost of its related monthly plans. It is now free on a £30 monthly contract.
