For those of you who have been eager to get your hands on a white Apple iPhone, there is now some good news and some bad news. The good news is that it is available on Three UK and Orange.

However the information which is listed on both network’s web sites shows that the white version is now sold out. How soon fresh stocks will be available is not known. There is also another glitch, namely that anyone who tries to order or more accurately pre-order the handset on the Orange web site are sent to a security page.

This obviously begs the question – is the white iPhone just an illusion? Probably not, but the on-off situation surrounding the white version of the popular smartphone has left many iPhone lovers and mobile phone experts alike, somewhat befuddled.

The last everyone heard about the white iPhone was before Christmas last year. Apple announced that the white iPhone would be available in spring 2011. This announcement ironically was spotted by an eagle-eyed customer on Apple’s own site. The statement read: “[the white version of the Apple iPhone] will be available spring 2011.”

Although experts welcomed this news, it has to be pointed out that the announcement was actually on the American version of the Apple store. So, assuming it would also be available in the UK may be stretching things a bit.

Nevertheless the fact that Orange and Three UK are now both saying they are selling the white iPhone is a step closer to actually getting your hands on one…
